PUPPET THEATER IS NOT AN AGE GROUP,
but it's important to choose the right piece for you.

For our performances, we mark in a coloured circle the age range of the children. We would like to help parents and teachers to always choose the right play for their child's age, so that they can have a fun time. It is important to us that children, whose first experience of theatre is typically with the Puppet Theatre, are always happy to return to us at any age, as secondary school pupils, adults and later as parents.

Performances for children under three years of age, known as infant theatre. The action sequences, based on simple situations and situational comedy, and the clear visual world, which plays with rhythm, colours and shapes, simultaneously create a familiar yet exciting world for the little ones. At the end of the 25-30 minute performances in the cosy indoor theatre of the Kemény Henrik Stage, there is always an opportunity to explore the space and play together.

Our toddler shows are now performed in a classical theatre space, where children can experience for the first time what it means to sit in a traditional auditorium and watch a performance. The running time is no more than forty minutes per act on the Main Stage and fifty minutes in the Studio. For this age group, the repertoire focuses on stories about animals, classic tales and contemporary tales that deal with children's everyday lives. The rhythm, musicality and visuals of the performances are specifically adapted to the receptive capacities of toddlers.

The running time of productions for preschool children does not exceed forty minutes per act on the Main Stage and fifty minutes per act in the Studio. This age group is on the verge of school age, so we offer them more complex, multi-themed performances of classical and contemporary stories and folk tales.

The receptive attitudes of young children in grades 1-2 change significantly compared to kindergarten. We offer them adventurous stories with twists and turns, which can include themes of heroism, self-sacrifice and love. Among the folk tales, the stories of growing up and choosing a mate will be at the forefront. The magical worldview is replaced at this age by the need to know the world, so stories based on reality are popular with the lower school age group, alongside fairy tales and sagas. Their sense of humour is differentiated and their emotional intelligence is developed, helped by the puppet theatre experience.

Young school kids in grades 3-4 are able to concentrate on longer productions. Playing time is approximately fifty minutes per act. In our productions for this age group, we begin to raise awareness as well as telling a story with a twist. The performances are characterized by the use of more complex levels of puppet form language.

The shows for upper primary school children are aimed to be the visually stimulating. In addition to the various puppet solutions, there is a greater use of video technology and sometimes online space. Young teenagers' thinking is problem-oriented, so it is important that these performances are both entertaining and educational.

The issues raised in the lectures for high school students are more serious for their age group. In addition to raising awareness, their main objective is to broaden the horizons of young audiences, whether they are interested in social issues or in an unusual approach to a literary work. The repertoire for this age group also includes productions linked to the school curriculum, with classical and contemporary stories. Adolescents are becoming more open to the possibilities of the puppet genre, beyond the story, and to abstract solutions, which is why these performances are characterized by a more complex puppet sign system. The productions last from one to one and a half hours.
